Drawing Talent or Easy Learning?

At present, with the help of the Internet, people can do everything: beginning with ordinary things and finishing with doing business. The Internet allows us to save our money and time: we can learn a foreign language with a private teacher via Skype; earn money from a blog or learn something new, such as haircutting, knitting or drawing. Of course, there are lots of free materials, but sometimes it’s easy to get lost in such a big place like the world-wide-web.

Today we’d like to speak with our readers and users about drawing. As you know, it’s a complex skill, and people need time to grasp it. The most of you can think that they need to have some talent and visit an art-school or a private teacher, but nowadays everything is possible to do online. With the help of step-by-step tutorials, our ‘students’ will easily create a great picture with little or even no previous experience. Our team has prepared a big collection of easy guides for our visitors. We promise you a fantastic result. Just don’t ignore the instructions.

But before starting our lessons, we want to give you some tips about the tools and techniques that you’ll need during the process. Learn how painting affects emotional intelligence

Drawing tools

  • A pencil – you’ll use it for the main actions: a light outline, a hatching, and cross-hatching – for a shading technique, a stripping – a shading technique for small details, a back and forth stroke – a simple way to create shades, a scumbling – to illustrate shades tight;
  • A darker pencil or a marker or a pen – you can choose these tools for a heavy silhouette at the end of your work;
  • Some sheets of paper;
  • An eraser.

Tips for beginners

And here are some pieces of our advice during the process of depicting the sketches. So, keep in mind:

  1. It’s easier to depict small things because you’ll keep the correct proportions. All these drawings are practice pics but not great artworks!
  2. Don’t create the shapes with one long line; change them into curves and then connect them!
  3. At the beginning use just a pencil. Don’t push the tool too hard! Use subtle shades and curves. After, you can work with dark silhouettes, and under your picture, the base will not be visible.

Suppose these pre-drawing tips will help you further. Now we can start!

Cute Chibi Style: Drawing a Baby Wolf and a Roaring Tiger

First, we propose you to speak a little bit about ‘chibi’ and ‘what is it?’ It’s an ancient Japanese word that means a small person. The main features of this style are cute creatures with large heads and tiny bodies, wide-opened eyes, and nice faces. ‘Chibi’ is often chosen to create humorous and cute things or scenes. Come with us and learn how to construct chibi-style figures.

Firstly, we propose to start with a cute baby wolf.

Create an oval – it’s a body of your wolf. Then form a round head. It should be two times bigger than the body. After, depict four legs: forelegs are simple straight lines, hind legs – add sticks in the feet only and don’t forget about simple ‘paws’ at the end of each line. Give some volume to the legs that they seem to be puffy. Now it’s time for thigh: make it round and connect with the foot. It was a body.

Now let’s continue with a lovely face. Build a small oval muzzle at the bottom of the wolf’s head, cross it with a wide smile and place a very-very small nose. After, stop at the eyes: a lower part should lay next to the muzzle, design big eyes and the pupils. But leave enough place for a huge forehead. The eyes are ready. The next step is ears. You can construct them either huge or tiny. It’s up to you.

And the last thing in your picture is a tail. Do it as you want: with one shape, or you can follow our advice and draw it with three steps: start with a circle, construct an oval and finish with a triangle.

Now, let’s finish the details. Take your darker pencil, press a little bit harder and add some features to your wolf. Your first chibi scratch is ready! Congratulations!

One more chibi artwork that we offer you is a roaring tiger.

Your first step will be to sketch an oval body and a huge head, just like in the wolf. Create the legs (look at the previous instructions) and four sticks – they will be the paws. Secondly, place two oval muzzles in the middle and at the bottom of the tiger’s head. Here place a pair of lips on each part of the mouth. Thirdly, depict a nose and cutely closed eyes to show that your tiger is dangerous. Fourthly, connect both parts of the mouth with curved shapes and put the teeth inside. Don’t forget about huge ears and a tail. To make the tail equal, build a dash with a circle on the top, copy the inner line on the sides. Here you are! The tail is ready. Now fill out the legs and create some tiger’s features, too: add stripes and whiskers, create a mane. Ink your masterpiece!

Christmas Mood-Tutorial: Funny Reindeer, Fur-Branch, and Lovely Snowflakes

Do you want to amaze your kids, relatives or friends with a funny card for Christmas holidays? We are ready to teach you some impressive tricks and hacks.

In this section, we can offer you three illustrations.

Let’s begin with a sweet reindeer.

First, construct a big circle for the head on your sheet of paper. Create a smaller muzzle and a small oval on it for the nose. Few curves will help you to create an open mouth.

For the deer’s eyes, you can use ‘chibi’ technique. Put long oval ears on the head and create antlers: draw the main half-oval part and some ‘tines,’ define the length for both antlers and contour them.

Place a mane on the neck.

Your artwork is ready. Now take the darker tool and finish your work.

The second illustration will be a beautiful greeny fir-branch with a Christmas ball.

Start with a big and two smaller sticks for the fir-branch. Create needles of the different length (short, longer and the longest ones), so your tree will look more realistic and thin.

Hang a ball: draw a circle and some ellipses inside it if you want. But you can paint it in your favourite colour, too. Then put a small hanger on the top of your ball, sketch a piece of ribbon and connect it with the branch. Make a cute bow on the fir: form a small circle, then flattened ‘8’ between the circle but on a different distance, connect both shapes with parallel strings, add ‘tails’ of the ribbon.

Take a darker pencil and press a little bit harder to present the scratch brighter. Enjoy your work!

And, of course, how can we imagine winter without snow? People often cut snowflakes out of paper or draw them on the windows to decorate houses on holidays. Children adore snow. That’s why our team decided to present our readers an exciting tutorial in designing realistic snowflakes. And don’t worry, it’s easier than you think!

First, you need to plan your picture. Build a vertical stick and a dot in its center. Then cross this center with two strings. If you want, you can depict a circle lightly or just keep it in mind. After that, create a small circle in the middle. Place a small hexagon in the center where the sticks cross.

Your next step will be to cross long lines with short horizontal sticks near the hexagon and put a dot above each stick. Unite them. Now the main body of your snowflake is ready and our ‘artists’ can expand it. Keep going and create the ‘arms,’ design them symmetrical. The last step is to fasten more arms to the first arms outside of the small. Your ‘skeleton’ is ready!

And we move on depicting the illustration. Take a darker tool and contour the body of the snowflakes and its arms – they should be thick and crystal. The same steps should be done with the little arms. Finish your picture by creating more interesting shapes and more crystals within the smaller circle.

The illustration is ready. You can use this method for another modified snowflakes. Every time various results can be achieved.

Cute Childish Artworks: Creating a Pony and a Nice Foxie

Kids play an important role in our lives. And, of course, we need to surprise them. We think it will be a great present if you do it yourselves or together with children such sweet scratches. In this part of our step-by-step tutorial, we invite the readers to create two gorgeous childish artworks.

All kids, especially girls, are keen on ponies. Here we are going to learn how to create them. Let’s start with the body:

  • sketch an oval very lightly, don’t use one line – short dashes with gaps are better. It will be the chest of your pony;
  • divide this “chest” into two halves;
  • build a circle next to the oval but a little bit smaller. This is a future bum;
  • join up the circle and the oval with curved shapes. The body is ready.

Continue depicting your work with legs:

  • find the place for the legs. The first stick will be in the front half of the chest-oval and the back one – in the back of the bum-circle;
  • outline the places where lines touch the body and the ground. Put the dots in the middle of them.
  • mark the center of each half of ‘leg.’ The base of the hoof is long enough;
  • define the long marks with ovals and circles: hoof and elbow – an oval, wrist, and heels – a circle;
  • keep in mind that the elbows should be longer than the hooves; wrist or heels can be short enough. The top of the hoof should be a bit shorter than the hoof itself;
  • create the hooves: join the hoof with the wrist or heel (use curved sticks). Now join the wrist with the elbow and the heel with the bum. The legs are ready.

The next step is drawing the head:

  • build a curved touch for representing the neck;
  • attach a line to the neck to construct the base of the head;
  • draw a small (the snout) and a big circle on the stick;
  • place an eye, a nose, and a smile;
  • to complete the head, join two ‘head-circles’;
  • with the help of two sticks join the head and the body.

Add some details:

  • put a string in the middle of the head, depict a curved shape to make an ear and join two strings together;
  • draw a mane that you want;
  • to create a tail, put a circle on the bum. Use an arc to show a form of the tail. Set up an oval on this stick. Form any tail you want.

Your base is done! Now take a darker tool (a ball-point pen or a marker) and contour the picture. Take a clean sheet of paper and put it over the other. Use a window if you don’t see the sketch. Be more careful because you work with the original picture. First, build the body and the hooves with two simple dashes. Secondly, you can work at the mane and tail. To draw the tail fluffier – use a lot of ‘threads’! Thirdly, contour the eye and put a spot of light in the eye. Don’t forget about the nose and smile. Fill the nose and the eyes with tiny circles inside for a more realistic view. And, fourthly, create hair all over the main contour by adding short slashes. If you want, place another pair of legs.

Are you ready for the next baby-drawing? We hope, our readers will enjoy creating a small and funny foxie. Let’s start!

Place an oval in the lower half of the sheet. You can take short touches with some distance between them and then join them to design the oval better. Don’t worry if your geometrical figure isn’t perfect. The belly of the fox is ready. Now draw a line under the oval. It’s the ground. Outline two counters over the first ground, but press your pencil harder. Create two half-circles over the short dashes, and these will be the paws. After that, find the middle of the paws and mark them with two dots. Here the foxie’s legs begin. Construct two sticks crossing the dots, but don’t do them too long. Cute animals have short legs. Now put two drops. To make it easier, turn the page upside-down. Create one more leg – it’s the back paw. Now the legs are ready.

Continue working on the picture and draft the head.

To form the head correctly, you need to follow the next instructions:

  • mark the distance between the paws;
  • find the center of this bar;
  • put a parallel stick through the dot (depict it lightly);
  • the head will be heart-shaped. If you are not good at heart-drawing, follow our advice: turn the paper, make two circles ‘kissing’ each other, build two sticks from the circles and go down the center line, wipe the odd signs and marks;
  • construct a semicircle for a chin.

After that, continue to work with the face of your cute fox. Create two ovals over the chin and put one oval on the top of them. The sketch of the animal’s snout is done. Now build a triangle over the snout. That way you add more character to your hero.

Are you ready to continue with the eyes? Of course, it’s not easy to place them symmetrically, that’s why we need to follow the next steps:

  • find the middle of the triangle and draw a horizontal string;
  • place ‘threads’ to the mouth to form a ‘mouth triangle’;
  • add two eyes in this ‘flipped-over triangle.’

After a while, you need to work at ears. Construct a ‘light’ triangle from the middle of the snout, and you’ll find the place for the ears. Think about the length of the ears, find their middle and construct horizontal lines. It will be ears’ width. Connect them with the head by gentle arcs. Make a form of the ears. Don’t form them sharp.

Build the last part of the body – a tail. It will be round at the base and narrow at the tip. Draw a circle, place the stick till the tip. Connect the tip and the circle with two curved shapes.

At last, add the final touches using a darker tool. Here you can fix some problems on your work. Now take another sheet of paper and cover the first picture with it. If you see the long dashes badly, use a window and the daylight. But stay focused! Design a smile building gentle arcs on the sides of the mouth. Mark properly the nose and the eyes. Put spots of light in the eyes. Fill the nose and eyes with the black ink. One more detail is the fur. Form it around the face as you want. Silhouette out the rest of the snout. To give a more realistic view for the paws, depict threads in them and small arcs on the top of them and don’t forget gentler arcs below. Place a big mane under the head to make the foxie cuter. Draw the silhouettes of the belly and legs under the mane. Don’t ignore the fur on the tail and ears. Our final picture is ready! Good job!

Pokémon Characters and Chibi Technique: Kawaii Ash and Pikachu, a Cartoon Bee-Beedrill, Funny Pikachu and a Sweety Vaporeon

We are not entirely sure about the keenness of modern kids and teens, but we can say for sure that our childhood (20-25 years ago) associates with funny Japanese creatures called Pokémons. They look unrealistic, but they are adorable. Let’s have fun and create some of them.

Our team proposes the readers to start with a famous Kawaii Ash and his pet Pikachu.

Firstly, create an oval for a hat and a curved stick inside it. Then – the letter ‘W’ for a forelock and ovals instead of the eyes. Put ‘W’ and ‘V’ letters on both sides of the face. Thirdly, continue with the hat and build a brim in the form of ‘?’ and mark sideways letters ‘V’ on the hat. Match the top ends with a check string and the bottom ends with a straight line. The fourth step is to draw a nose in the form of a sideways ‘V’. After that, place a smile in the form of the letter ‘j’.

Let’s move on and continue with clothes and hands. Build threads for sides of a shirt. Draw a rectangle with a wider bottom for the zipper. Begin to make sleeves: a partial rectangle for the left and a slash for the right one. Fasten a curved string to the bottom of Kawaii’s coat and long dashes for his left arm. Depict pants in a sideways #7 shapes. Do the left hand in the form of the letter ‘B’ and ovals for fingers. Add lines for the jacket, sleeve, and legs, and add a curve on Ash’s pants. Letter ‘c’ and ‘D’ will be the parts of the shoes. Create two dashes for the left arm. Now let’s design the Pokaball in Kawaii’s right hand. Draw a circle and a tiny one in it. Place a horizontal string into the Pokaball. And, of course, don’t forget about Pikachu. At the right leg of our hero put a curved sign and a ‘?’ shape on the bottom of the pet. Make ears in the form of a small letter ‘V’ and gentle shapes to the head. Build small oval eyes and a letter ‘V-shaped’ mouth. Finish Pikachu’s ears with curves inside them. Sketch the sign ‘3’ at the top of the mouth, as well as a curved shape in the mouth and round cheeks. Put three sticks for the arm. Finally, colour your heroes.

Another picture that we offer you here is a cartoon bee-Beedrill. It’s easy for designing. Start with the face. It will be depicted in the shape of a backwards #3. Match it with a semicircle. For the body use a curved letter ‘S’ and a backward letter ‘j’. The bee’s wings you can construct in the form of #3. After a while, add big ovals and small ones in them for the eyes. Arms will look like sideways letters ‘V’

and legs – backward #3 shapes. Draw stripes on the Beedrill’s body. Attach a stick to the arms. Antennae can be depicted as a ‘?’ sign. Connect ‘?’ signs and straight lines with the head. At last, colour your insect. We hope you had fun!

It is tough to choose the best and the most interesting Pokémon character because all of them are lovely and funny. We present our readers and visitors two more chibi Pokémon drawings. One of them is Pikachu. It’s the best friend and pet of Kawaii Ash who we learnt how to do it before. So, take a sheet of paper and some pencils and follow our tips.

First, place a backwards ‘?’ shape and a ‘#3’ form at the bottom. Then close the body up with a curve build two letters ‘u’ for the feet and sticks in each foot. Thirdly, continue with the ears: use an uppercase letter ‘A’ shape for the left and right ears. Now it’s the eyes – the left one is smaller-, and place smaller circles in them. Also, choose a circle for each cheek. The fifth step will be to form the mouth with the help of flattened ‘3’-like shape. For the bottom of the mouth use a letter ‘u’. Don’t forget about arms and a tail. For the tail, we choose zig-zag forms and a rectangle at the end. Create arms using rectangle-ish shapes and letters ‘u’ on the hands. Finally, your baby Pikachu is ready – colour it now!

And the last Kawaii Chibi Pokémon is Vaporeon. Here is our guide. Happy drawing, guys!

Please, start with an oval – it’s Vaporeon’s head. Mark out a sideways ‘#3’ form in it. Then, make oval eyes and a mouth in the form of a sideways ‘#3’. The next task is to place an upside-down letter ‘v’ on the head. Continue your work and draw a letter ‘U’ -shaped body and lines on it.

Add wings for this creature:

  • put some long dashes on the sides of the body;
  • create sideways letters ‘v’;
  • take curves between the first long slashes (‘#3’ shapes).

The wings are ready!

Now it’s time for limbs:

  • the arms are letters ‘U’;
  • the feet are ovals;
  • the tail is drawn with the help of a sideways curved letter ‘v’, letter ‘c’ on it and again a letter ‘v’ on the tail.

Don’t forget about the humps on the tail for this cute dragon: they are in the form of #3. Finally, look at your masterpiece, take colour pencils and enjoy the work.

Butterflies’ Collection: Depicting of Realistic Butterflies

You think that it will be the most difficult tutorial? You are wrong! Realistic butterflies can be designed fast and without many efforts. So, let’s get started and our readers and users can be convinced of it.

At first, you need to start with the body. Of course, you can design it in detail (this way needs more time), but you can also do it figuratively. So, we offer to look at the butterfly from an aerial view:

  • construct three ovals – one small, one big and round, one long and narrow. They should overlap each other;
  • fasten two small ovals for the eyes to the first part of the body;
  • build the antennae and palpi (small antennae covered with fur) at the top of the head;
  • divide the abdomen into segments;
  • depict fur on the thorax.

Secondly, the ‘pupils’ should attach wings to the body. There is a big amount of wings: small or big, narrow or wide, ragged or round, colorful or transparent, etc. But remember that the forewings never can be smaller than the hindwings. Moreover, all types of the wings have the same structure – triangles with three margins that round the shape and an apex that form the forewings longer. It’s time to start drawing the wings:

  • fasten four triangles to the body;
  • add round margins: the inner margin of forewings overlaps the costal one of hindwings;
  • make an apex for forewings; Drawing
  • sketch arcs on all parts of the wings;
  • separate the inner margins with straight lines;
  • connect some arcs with rough sticks at every wing, creating a cell (discal cell) in the middle.

DrawingYour wings are ready! Congratulations!

You can add some more details and colour your masterpiece as you want.

Also, so-called tails can be attached to the bottom of the hindwings. Such species, as Mountain Blue, Common Yellow Swallowtail and Amazon Angel Butterfly have them.

Boys and Vehicles: High-Powered Tractor & Super-Fast Sports Car

We are entirely sure that our male half looked forward to seeing these tutorials. Are you ready? Let’s do it!

Our team has prepared for our students two machines that they will be able to construct from start to finish: a tractor and a super-fast sports car.

Propose you to start with drawing a high-powered tractor. So, take a sheet of paper, a pencil, a ruler and begin to work:

  • design a long, rectangular cube for the chassis;
  • build a larger cube on the top of the first figure;
  • draw a circle in the front part of the picture – it’s the transmission housing;
  • attach a large cube (a future cab) on the top of the transmission housing;
  • fasten one more large cube to the side of your tractor – it will be the mud guard;
  • create three cylinders on the wheels;
  • construct some more additional shapes to have a more realistic view of the transport: a cylinder for the exhaust stack on the right side, a small counterweight cube on the front part, some circles for the headlamps, the seating area, a steering wheel and many more.

Let’s continue working on the wheels:

  • draw the outer tyres with simple ellipses;
  • use a smaller ellipse to create the outer rim;
  • do the same for the opposite side;
  • create a simple ellipse for the hubs (but make it obscured);
  • depict the rear wheel using a large ellipse. However, part of it will be hidden under the mudguard;
  • mark the treads brighter and clearer;
  • design the outer and inner rims;
  • fasten two more ellipses to the hub to give it more volume;
  • place about 4-6 wheel nuts that will hold the wheel on the hub.

If our readers want, they can build in one more detail – a trailer to the tractor.

Firstly, attach some narrow cubes to the towing hitch. Next, construct a chassis made up from a narrow cube. On the top of the chassis put a large percentage cube – for the sidewalks and tail. After that, put a long, thin cube on the bottom of the chassis. It will be the axle. Usually, the axle must be supported by one more detail – a leaf spring – make it in the form of a triangle. Finally, create a wheel and some details inside it. Bear in mind that the tow hitch, the second wheel, side walls and some parts of the chassis will be hidden.

The tractor is ready! Our students have done an excellent work!

It’s not a secret that all men love cars. This is a feeling that is hidden inside them from the birth at a subconscious level. Sports cars are something special that draws attention whether they are standing in the street or in motion. Here we will teach you how to design a basic sports car. Please, follow our step-by-step guideline.

To start with, build a low horizon across the paper. Then mark a two-point perspective setup placing it off the page. After that, place a straight ‘thread’ on the left side using the vanishing point. Now lay the second long mark from the same point, but it needs to be above the horizon. After a while, build two more sticks on the left side. Your next task is to combine the lower and upper lines creating two stretched rectangles. Add four vertical sticks to join both rectangles. Using the same tips, silhouette two more rectangles. But keep in mind that the second box is taller than the first one. It’s going to be the passenger area. The third rectangle is the rear of the car, and this box is the smallest one.

The second stage will be connected to the car body. Here we advise our ‘artists’ to use curvy and flowing range. Create a bend on the left side of the paper and one more toward the center of the page. After that, continue with the center section: sketch a ‘bump’ – it’s the start of the windscreen and seating area. The fourth curve is situated in the rear of the car.

After a while, try to join all ‘threads’ with a slight downward curve. Construct a spoiler in front of the car in the lower part of the picture. Continue to choose curved shades. On the right side at the bottom of your car place a long upward curve. This part is called a side skirt, and it helps to lead air towards the wheels and engine to cool them in motion. Now you need to build rather high and wide wheel arches. Don’t forget about the door: do it again with a small arc.

In the next phase, we are going to work at the wheels. Start with the front wheel: draw a big circle and two smaller inside the first circle. It will be a tyre and its rims – the outer and inner one. Attach a brake disc closer to the left of the center of the largest circle. Then draw a small final circle that will be the center badge for our wheel.

DrawingSports cars have a special set of wheels that’s why we need to draw a rough star inside the circles. Make one more larger outer star. That’s going to be the outer part of the spokes. To build the inner part of them use a droplet-like a shape around the wheel. For the rear wheels and its rims choose ellipses or ovals.

Now we have constructed all the main parts of the car. So, the fourth stage is dedicated to the smaller details. Design an egg-shape on the left side at a downward angle and an oval shape within the egg. Place the same details on the right side but make them larger. Between these two air intakes, mark out one more square-shape intake but with a slight scoop feature. It will be set up directly in front of the car. Then outline the contour for the front spoiler and the ‘shut’ dashes for the bonnet. After that, place some lights at the front-end of the sports car. Don’t forget about such details as wing mirrors and door handles. Add cooling vents near the passenger’s area and just in front of the rear wheel.

And the last guide here will be to place the all-important brake calipers and a few small holes in the disc. You need to put the caliper on the left side of the brake disc.

You’ve done excellent work! All that is left is to clean the car construction and tidy up the whole picture. You can choose the main principles of our work for your own design. We hope you had great fun!

We are delighted that you joined us and learned our drawing tutorial guides. Studio Black Belt team hopes our readers and users had a wonderful time. Don’t stop right now – keep going!
